Ball Valve Locks

Overview

Alpha Process Controls International is recognised as the world leader in the manufacture and supply of ball valve locks, with over 30 years’ experience.

The ball valve safety interlock has many unique features that improve safety and help protect valuable assets.

The device is designed to prevent unauthorised access and opening of the ball valve without the operating removable operating handle.

The lock can be factory mounted to a range of ball valves or supplied for retro-fit. No need to strip down the ball valve for the retro-fit.

How it Works

  • The lock is securely mounted to the ball valve and installed into the pipeline or tanker.
  • The re-moveable operating handle is inserted into ball valve lock and rotated to open the valve.
  • The operating handle is now captive in the lock with the ball valve in the open position.
  • After closure of the ball valve the operating handle is removed and located in a safe location.
  • The ball valve now can only be reopened by obtaining operating handle from it stored location.
  • Normally open or Normally Closed Variations – The Safety Interlock can be made to release the operating key in either the open or closed position.

Benefits

No unauthorised access

Handle is easily removable and can be securely stored away from the valve location.

One-step operating

The handle can be fitted and the valve operated in one movement, with one hand.

Prevents accidental opening

Valve cannot be knocked or otherwise accidentally opened without the handle being fitted.

Reduces risk of major product spillage, explosion and fire

The valve can only be operated by an authorised person having access to the handle, minimising the risk of serious incident.

Normally open or normally closed

The handle locking collar can be specified to release the handle in either the open position, or the closed position, or both.

Easy retro-fit

The unique design of the locking collar means that it is easily fitted to existing valves in situ.
