Alpha Process Controls supports SMT Training programme for LNG cruise vessel crews

Alpha Process Controls has continued to develop its relationship with Stream Marine Training (SMT) by supporting a new five-day training programme for crews of new LNG fuelled cruise vessels.

Technical Sales Manager, Fraser Bennie, and Design Manager Ben Richardson delivered a session on Bunkering equipment from the Alpha range as part of the Advanced Training for Service on Ships using Fuels Covered within the IGF Code programme.

The successful programme was attended by Disney delegates including, among others, a Staff Captain, a First Officer and a Chief Engineer. Fraser and Ben discussed a collection of LNG transfer practices, including safe working methods and the importance of understanding cryogenics, gas and LNG loss of containment.

They also demonstrated a series of transfer technologies ranging from Alpha’s small scale manual connects (2”-3”) to Alpha’s large scale transfer lines (4”, 6″, 8” and 10”) and highlighted cryogenic equipment issues and how to detect, anticipate and act in certain scenarios.
